Every January, the Boston Public Schools (BPS) hand out a school selection form (see a sample) to all 8th graders. To get the best chances of getting into your first choice high school, you need to return the form before the first round deadline in February, with your favorite schools ranked in order of preference. (There are four rounds in total.)
Tip: Send in your form even if you miss the first-round deadline. You have a lesser chance of getting into your first choice, but if you don’t send it in at all, you will be assigned to a school by a computer.
